Death Squared is a co-op puzzle game developed by SMG Studio. There are both 2 and 4 player local co-op and is the type of puzzle game that can be very rage inducing if someone decides to take it upon themselves to sign a death wish. Extremely fun and is definitely one of those games that you want to high-five everyone after completing a level (I sure as hell did).
The puzzles are very fun to figure out, ranging from basic blocks that obstruct your path to hidden spikes and even lasers. Can’t be a puzzle game without lasers. To add a layer of difficulty, the robots you control (which look like washing machines to me and actually quite adorable) are a bit jittery and the floor is coated with a tiny bit of black ice.
The rules/mechanics of each level does vary, and more so with levels involving lasers. You will probably want to adopt the shimmey technique unless you and your friends can read each other’s minds. Thankfully, the levels are designed with numerous deaths in mind so it doesn’t take an eternity for another attempt.
The graphics looked great and stuck to simpler side of life to give the robots more pop against the background. There’s nothing more I love in a puzzle game than simple and effective design. The hardest part of the puzzle is figuring out how to direct your humans and follow directions. Having too many pack leaders will result in disaster. Probably. If you love puzzle games, be sure to grab this one! Despite the rage inducing tendencies, this game great for building bonds.
