We all run into the leafy (new players) people who genuinely have no idea what’s going on but are happy to learn the mechanics. It’s normal that they make mistakes and I will heal them to their hearts content and will gladly throw myself into the fire to save them.
…and then there are those who think they know what to do but actually don’t and the healer ends up carrying their asses to the end…AND THEY DON’T EVEN REALIZE IT.
I started making my Astrologian for fun because why not? Instant queues are awesome. It is a nice relaxing job after all that hard work as a Black Mage (lol). Over the course of my journey to become a healer, I keep on running into the most ridiculous parties and something I like to call healer-enrage ensues. This post is a compilation of the ridiculous parties I have run into. So far, it’s a daily occurrence.
I was doing level 58 Vault Runs on my BLM and I get placed into a team of seemingly highly competent individuals. This was false as the healer eventually raged quit after he realized he actually had to heal. The tank in particular came in with shiny looking gear and I was like, this is going to be a fast run. Wrong. 🙁
Tank Senpai T.R., is decked out in this pretty looking gear and I was very excited to hit 59 asap.
Unfortunately, the first few pulls were awful. I was considering leaving the party and taking the penalty rather than continue with the run. I couldn’t fathom why someone with such nice looking gear could be so awful. Did he just face roll through all the previous dungeons and got lucky with drops?! I couldn’t AOE because he would lose aggro and I didn’t want to be mean and call him incompetent or anything, so leaving would have been the appropriate passive-aggressive move.
I will accept his Sexy Shield’s as an apology for the first few pulls that made me question his ability to game.
He was a good tank and deserves all the glory of his shiny armor and weapons. Please tanks, remember your defense stance.
BV- The Doubting Warrior
Today, I queued up for dailies and Halatali happens. Low level dungeon, what fun. While we’re waiting for people to load, the tank makes an incredibly reassuring statement. “i remmeber the boss but thats it [sic]”
A couple of minutes in and I start noticing that he’s struggling to hold aggro when there are multiple mobs. OK that’s totally cool, this is low level and he has less skills to use. (Even though, Hanako had zero problems when I was running with him. Benefit of the doubt, you know) Then the Black Mage starts attacking a group of mobs and we’re all like OMFG. We kill the group with just a little injury but not before one monster managed to cast an AOE skill in its dying breath. Mr. BV just stands there and of course, dies. The three of us watch him lying on the ground and I contemplate my existence in life. I sigh and res him like the good healer I am. His response to him dying was, “i tried…”
Then I ask him politely if he has any AOE aggro skills (he does) and then his doubting “no?” made me dread what was to come for the rest of the dungeon.
I was voicing my concerns about the run to DecoyEC and in his wisdom and experience as a healer, gave me some excellent advice that I did not take.
The grueling dungeon was coming to an end as we neared the final boss. All we have to do was just kill the damn thing. There’s only one mob, there’s no way he’d mess up, I thought. WRONG. In the MIDDLE of the final boss fight he just stops moving and stands still. I thought he was about to dc, alas if it was only so simple.
