Alphabear is an original word puzzle game available on the Apple Store and Google Play developed by SpryFox LLC. It is similar to scrabble and many other word games but its unique ‘bear’ bonus system differentiates it from other word games.

I usually don’t find word games all that interesting. I mean its a game, why would I do vocab when I have free time? My brain already works over time typing out these reviews. I should be doing something relaxing, something that soothes my soul…like CoD.
Then these bears won me over with their damningly cute eyes and bonuses that make the game more fun. If you use letters around the bear, they grow bigger and the bonuses you get at the end increases. Fun fact: I used the word “Sanguine”. I am essentially Shakespeare.
New challenge events seem to occur on a time limited basis and there are also different events and levels that appear according to the weekday. Thats right, today is “Sunday Delight”: You have 90 seconds to get as many points as possible and the letters “W, O, R, K” are unavailable BECAUSE ITS SUNDAY AND THERE’S NO WORK ON SUNDAYS.
It is a nice game to play when you’re on your way to work or just want to kill some time. If you’re vocabulary-challenged then stay clear away because it does require some thinking. However, it is so satisfying because you get to collect bears with better stats. (e.g One bear gives additional points for using letters E,A,S,Y)
All this gushing about bears and spelling aside, this is a fantastic game for people who enjoy word games and have the patience to sit there and think of obscure words. I see Alphabear as a rising star in the world of mobile word games.
