SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell is an action (read: speed running) game developed by Pine Studio. You can try out the free demo on Steam now while you wait for the official release, coming in Summer 2016.
As far as I can tell, there’s no story in SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell. I’m assuming that “Speedrunners” is just referring to the online leaderboards but basically you’re this metal head that somehow wound up in hell and just running through obstacle courses that I assume Satan himself built out of boredom and has even planted a couple of power ups for you to use and beer cans for you to collect so that you can unlock other levels. Of course.
It’s a pretty solid game, I have to say. Everything flows very smoothly and if you have time to kill, you can take a look at the surroundings which is Hell mostly if you’re not inside, looking at the same stone structure all the time. In the demo, you’re introduced to all 3 of the 4 powerups: Fireball (default LMB), Teleport shot, and Anti-Gravity. I’m assuming the last powerup has to do with controlling time. There are also trampolines which are just giant sub-woofers. Freaking awesome. The music is pretty good as well; I’m not exactly a fan of metal, but it’s nothing too hardcore and I was actually kind of into it.
I’m not sure if completing each level within the time limits and getting skulls does you any good further down the road, but collecting the beer cans in each level will allow you to unlock extra levels. There is also going to be an Endless mode so good way to compete with your friends. The levels in the trailer shows off quite a bit more and looks like they will become rather intricate later, especially combining the Fireball with Anti-Grav.
It’s a damn fun game to play, and remember that you can download the free demo and try it out yourself.
See you next game! -DecoyEC has logged off.
