Pit People is a turn based strategy game developed by The Behemoth and will be available on Xbox One and PC.
The Behemoth is known for making different types of games. It began with Castle Crashers, a beat em up arcade style game and most recently Battle Block Theater a puzzle platformer. This time they are taking a leap into the world of turn based strategy.
Pit People uses the same animation style as Battle Block Theater and even the same sassy narrator! You can control up to six characters with roles such as melee, healers, range, and tank. In order to progress, there is world mode where you can freely roam around and encounter enemies. There are indicators that let you know the difficulty of the encounter so you can choose whether to proceed or not.
The story begins with Horatio, his wife and his son. Raiders/Vikings attacked his home and just as they managed to fight them off a giant ape hand comes out of no where and smashes their home and his son with it. Driven by revenge, Horatio goes on a rampage and thus begins the adventure of Pit People.
The dialogue is witty and the humor is a tinge darker than Battle Block Theater but I for one, love it.
Combat style is turned based and each character utilizes a different weapon. Each weapon has strengths and weaknesses against particular enemies. The strategy in this game is knowing where to position each character against what enemy. It’s a typical turn base game with tanks, healers, range and melee class. Tanks should be positioned in front to absorb damage while range classes could deal damage from afar safely. Putting multiple character near an enemy will allow you to hit that particular enemy x amount of times while only one of your character gets hit.
There is single and multiplayer mode so you can enjoy alone or with a group of friends!
There is a recruitment system in the game that allows you to recruit any enemy you encounter. You do that by leaving the one you want to recruit alive while killing the rest. Depending on your skill and luck, you can find rare teammates to add to your team. (LIKE THE CUPCAKE. YES YOU CAN RECRUIT A CUPCAKE)
Pit People was fun and was your typical turn based strategy game with The Behemoth splash.
