Dying Light – The Following is the expansion pack to Dying Light, a first person open world survival horror game developed by Techland and published by Warner Bros Interactive. It is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Linux through Steam.
Dying light.. how does light die? Do you stab it with darkness? Well in Dying light, as the light dies(lol sunset) there will be more ways of you getting stabbed.. by razor-sharp teeth in the dark. This expansion added a lot more life into the game including new area, quests, weapons, clothing and a vehicle! Picture yourself racing down a tall grassy field mowing down zombies as the blood splatter all over your face. It’s like all you have ever wanted in crazy taxi but more!
As you start off the expansion you realize the world is fudged but some dead guy told you there is a promise land where people live without the fear of being infected. WHAT DO YOU DO? Listen to the dead guy! I mean he could be laughing his ass off as his spirit goes to helll-o but but hey, what famous adventure didn’t start off by listening to a dead guy?
The opening scene where you start to stumble your way out of the city/suburb is amazing. I love the lighting and the view as you come out of the cave. Its like OMG WE MADE IT TO THE PROMISE LAND. You get this open country side atmosphere with people living in barns and small closed of community with zombies in between.
I mean in the promise land you can get all you want right? Live life happily, don’t have to worry about zombies, eat all the sweets you want and not worry. Speaking of sweets there is a guy in a white van with goodies inside
The music is very immersive. When you’re looking at the amazing landscape it is very calm and relaxing but when zombies start chasing you down or you’re racing against time to stop pipelines from exploding- it really gives you an adrenaline rush.
Oh hi, Sorry to drop by but do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior?
Vehicles play a big role in the expansion. There are side racing quests that can rake in some rewards such as customization options for your buggies. Also it’ll make your buggie stronger so you don’t have to repair it as much as I do… or maybe its just because I’m an Asian driver…
Praise the sun !!! So you got these guys called the “faceless” and they can communicate with “mother” and apparently they’re immune to zombies. So the point of this expansion is go around help / save people. Gain reputation and rank from these quests and then you can unlock more missions which would let you be recognized by the faceless and mother.
This meme is exactly what I thought when I saw the “required rank/reputation system” to unlock more quest/missions. I felt that some of the quests were there to prolong the game. The game play is actually pretty fun and challenging. You can get through the game in about 12-15 hours without doing all side quests. Spoke with my friend who also played the original game, he said that with the expansion there are new parkour moves, more variety of firearms, and the enemies are “smarter”.
Example of a quest you have to do would involve racing down somewhere in a limited amount of time in your new buggy or saving/preventing something from dying.
I got his back, or the zombie’s back actually.. They are back to back waves of zombies that would come and I would have to defend this dude. At least the questing isn’t as bad as a certain MMORPG… oh hey you see that NPC one inch away, could you tell him this and tell me what he said? Oh give him this too. repeat x2349872394872931… yea good exp.
Graphics in this game is actually pretty good, the scenery is amazing as you can see backgrounds are nice and even the scene in this cave looks beautiful.
If you like the challenge or just want to complete the story while slashing away at zombies or play crazy taxi with your buggy then i would recommend this game. Over all its pretty fun. The boss fights are challenging but feels so good after you defeat them. Just be prepared to die quite a bit.
