If you’ve played Cookie Clicker, it’s pretty much the same concept and a great time killer. It does take a considerable amount of time to progress through the game in term of stages. Your first time through, you will likely get stuck on stage 130 simply because you don’t have enough damage. You will have to ascend multiple times, a skill granted by one of your characters once they reach level 150, to accumulate Hero Souls for more damage. You can also buy a soft ascension if you accumulate enough rubies that are dropped by the random goldfish that spawn if you’re actually at the screen.
Simple game with two play-styles: Active or Passive. Active means you are actually in the game, clicking away and killing those monsters. Passive means you are usually not logged in or away from keyboard (afk). You get to summon Ancients which grants you effects which compliments either play style. I went with a passive play style, so my Ancient grants me additional gold if I do not click anything for more than a minute, meaning each time I log back in I have amassed enough gold to level up my allies for more damage and log out again.
I have Clicker Heroes on PC through Steam, and while the first few stages are fun to play by manually clicking, it quickly becomes tiresome so I just used an auto-clicker to progress. Really not necessary unless I’m fighting a boss though, but it’s efficient to just burn through a few stages. The monster animations are quite nice and makes it feel rewarding when they go squish (I would imagine more so on the mobile versions). The music gets you pumped up and feels like you’re going into battle, which is excellently complimented by the sound effects of hitting the enemy. I’m close to passing stage 130, being short for a kill by a mere 5 seconds so one more ascension aught to do it…
Clicker Heroes is free, looks and feels great, so pick it up today! Did I mention there are also a lot of achievements that also grants bonuses?
- Difficulty: Easy
- Gameplay Score: 4/5 (It’s the passives that really make a difference, so time management is essential to actually progress.)
- Graphics Score: 5/5 (You also have several options to change the appearance to help reduce lag.)
- Music: 3/5 (It definitely gets you pumped, but I can’t imagine listening to it for more than 5 minutes without tuning it out.)
See you next game. -DecoyEC has logged off.
