Progression through the game is time based, meaning you have to survive long enough in one level to unlock the next. Right off the bat, you are allowed access to difficulties “Hexagon,” “Hexagoner,” and “Hexagonest.” Here is an example of the first stage. There are also hyper modes of each, followed by one final difficulty beyond Hexagonest Hyper Mode. If you’ve played The Impossible Game, it is similar to that except your movements are not timed with the music. Additionally, the screen is constantly rotating either clockwise or counterclockwise and will switch quite often so be sure to get your bearings. Essentially, you are just a tiny arrow that moves around a hexagon while the world tries it’s best to squish you. Good luck!
I have this version on the PC and I highly suggest using a mouse to move with the mouse buttons rather than your arrow keys since it’s a lot more accurate. Each stage has its own pattern and speed at which obstacles approach. Within each level, the difficulty increases at set time intervals, starting you at “Point,” then “Line,” then “Triangle,” and so on up to “Hexagon.” I never got too far with each stage as you can tell with the times so I don’t know if there are more that comes after “Hexagon” but I would imagine it means more patterns or maybe just speed increase.
With each increase also comes new obstacles for you to figure out how to navigate. Music is excellent and whenever you restart a level (which you will do a lot), the song will start at a random point but they all loop very well. A bit overwhelming at first but once you start to adjust to the speed, screen rotations, color changes, and various patterns, the game becomes very addicting even though sometimes it’s mildly infuriating but you can only blame yourself because it’s all based on reaction speed. Definitely worth getting cause it is a great time killer and definitely helps with reaction time and pattern recognition in general.
